We’ve been talking about things that can get in the way of reaching our fitness goals. Two of the three most common road block already have been posted:
Lack of Time
Lack of Motivation
Let’s talk about the third and probably the most legitimate excuse to keeping you from your fitness goals Lack of Knowledge.
Here’s the good news:
.
.
1. If you can admit that you don’t know what you’re doing and don’t know how to get in shape then you are in the majority.
2.The information you need is out there.
Here’s the bad news:
The information you need is swimming in a sea mis and un-necessary information. Some of that mis-leading information is cleverly disguised as PROFESSIONAL/CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS and PRODUCTS.
So here’s what you need to do:
1. Don’t just listen to every gym, trainer, or sales person who sounds convincing. Do some research on the internet. Many of the sales gimmicks appeal to a form of intuition but not common sense. Find out how the professionals that you model REALLY eat and train. Not what they endorse, but THE WAY THEY ACTUALLY EAT AND TRAIN.
Jillian Michaels can put her face on whatever box she wants but I promise you the products that she is endorsing were not around to get her in the shape she’s in today. Same goes for P90X or ANY pro athlete’s published supposed workout routine.
2. Remember that the info you need is not unique, special, or new. If the general principles would be completely foreign to our much more fit ancestors (and I mean grand parents – not cavemen) then it’s probably a bunch of bunk.
What they did involved nothing new. NOTHING. What was involved was tons of PLANNED VARIETY and HARD WORK. Did you get those last three factors? Here they are again:
A. Plan
B. Variety
C. Hard Work
If what you are doing does not include even one of these factors change it so that it does.
